On June 20th, the Inaugural Conference of the National ‘Yulu Program’ Vocational Development Alliance was held in Tianjin. As one of the first batch of governing members of the alliance, Zheng Jun, Vice President of our school, was invited to attend the conference.
Launched in 2010, the ‘Yulu Program’ is a special poverty alleviation project initiated by the former State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development and the Ministry of Finance. It provides financial subsidies to children from registered poor families who pursue secondary vocational education after junior high school or higher vocational education after high school. Sponsored by China Vocational Education Association, and under the guidance and support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the national ‘Yulu Program’ is a public welfare cooperation mechanism. It aims to help new labor forces from rural poverty-alleviated families and low-income families receive vocational education, improve employment skills, and promote stable employment and sustainable vocational development.
At the conference, Qin Boyong, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Vice Chairman of the China Vocational Education Association, stated that the establishment of the alliance should be taken as an opportunity to pool the efforts of all parties. It will promote the ‘Yulu Program’ to shift from ‘blood transfusion’ to ‘blood production’ and from ‘poverty alleviation’ to ‘rural revitalization’, effectively helping students of the ‘Yulu Program’ embark on the path of achieving success through skills. This will also contribute to the development of China’s vocational education and the comprehensive rural revitalization. During the conference, representatives of outstanding funded students of the ‘Yulu Program’, university representatives, and enterprise representatives including Zhaopin.com delivered speeches respectively. The ceremony for awarding certificates to excellent works of the short video solicitation activity ‘Yulu Student Assistance, Brilliant Career’ and the promotion of school-enterprise cooperation projects by enterprises were also held on site.
Being selected as a governing unit of the alliance is a full recognition of the school’s achievements in serving the country’s major strategies and promoting the high-quality development of vocational education. As one of the first batch of governing members, our school will give full play to its professional advantages in navigation, shipping and other fields, deeply participate in the alliance’s construction projects, and strive to expand high-quality employment channels. It will effectively provide employment support for students in need, contributing our strength to cultivating more high-quality technical and skilled talents who meet social needs and serving the country’s rural revitalization strategy.
