From March 2nd to 9th, Vice President Chen Xiaoqin led a delegation from Jiangsu Maritime Institute (JMI) on a successful working visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Laos. The trip focused on advancing vocational education collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative, specifically in areas like the Zheng He College, Chinese + Vocational Skills training, and industry-education integration.

In the UAE: Deepening Industry-Education Integration

The delegation hosted a visit by Mr. Liu Limin, President of the Chinese Education Association for International Exchange, to the Zheng He College in Abu Dhabi. President Liu praised the college's role as a bridge for Sino-UAE cooperation and emphasized the need to deepen enterprise involvement and digital transformation in vocational education.

The team also met with officials from the Chinese Embassy in the UAE, discussing ways to enhance institutional collaborations and align JMI's expertise with the maritime industry's needs in the UAE. Site visits to Chinese companies like Hilong Pipe and ZTE's Dubai branch provided valuable insights for tailoring Chinese + Vocational Skills programs.

In Laos: Building New Partnerships and Alumni Networks

In Laos, a key outcome was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Souksavath College of Management and Economics. The signing ceremony was witnessed by a representative from the Lao Ministry of Transport, who expressed strong support for the partnership and requested JMI's technical assistance in port development and Laos's bid to join the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

The delegation also surveyed the talent needs of Chinese companies in Laos, including Huawei and SINOTRANS Laos. Furthermore, Vice President Chen met with outstanding Lao alumni, discussing the establishment of a Lao alumni chapter and encouraging them to serve as ambassadors of Sino-Lao friendship.

This visit has solidified JMI's international cooperation platforms and provided new momentum for its Double High-Level Plan initiative, paving the way for exporting high-quality Chinese vocational education.
