July 12, the 1st Cross Strait Navigation Cultural Festival of 2019 "Youth goes with the ocean" was successfully concluded. The closing ceremony was attended by vice president Miao Keyin and teachers and students from colleges and universities across the Taiwan Strait who participated in the activity. Wang Jinfa, Secretary of the general Party branch of the School of International Education, presided over the closing ceremony.


At the closing ceremony, teachers and students at the scene first reviewed the wonderful moments of the week through short video. Over the past five days, more than 50 teachers and students from seven colleges and universities across the Taiwan Strait have jointly participated in a variety of activities, such as navigation culture lecture, navigation culture line, charming Nanjing line, navigation skill show, quality development training, etc., and jointly felt the charm of navigation skills and knowledge and traditional culture, forming a deep friendship in cooperation and sharing.


In her speech, Mr. Lin Mengxuan of Taiwan Longhwa University of Science and Technology thanked the organizers for their thoughtful arrangement and warm service. Wang Yongjun, deputy director of the Department of Science and Engineering of Yan'an Vocational and Technical College, quoted classic poems and famous sentences in his speech, expressing his appreciation for the rich cultural heritage of Nanjing and the excellent professional quality of teachers and students of JMI.


Wang Bin, a student from the school of electrical engineering, made a speech as a volunteer representative. The festival includes 15 young volunteers from the school of navigation technology, the school of electrical engineering, the school of economic management and the School of Humanities and Arts. Their enthusiasm and thoughtfulness left a deep and good impression on the teachers and students.


Subsequently, young teachers and students from both sides of the Straits jointly brought wonderful and colorful performances. From Taiwan, students from Longhwa University of Science and Technology sang the song "The Sound of heartbeat", and volunteers from our university cooperated with a song Invisible Wings". The erhu solo "Blue and White Porcelain" by Xu Da, a teacher from the School of International Education, pushed the scene atmosphere to the climax.


At last, in his speech, Miao Keyin gave full affirmation to this activity and put forward ardent hope to all teachers and students. He said that the simultaneous interpreting of young students on both sides of the Strait has the same historical context and cultural identity. I hope we can work together to carry forward and develop the spirit of maritime culture.
